【摘要】:VariousUnitedStatesgovernmentalregulationsforbidincompatiblematerialstobetransportedtogetherandrequirethatchemicalreactivitybeconsideredinprocesshazardandriskanalysis.Achemicalcompatibilitychartisonetooltobeusedtosatisfytheseregulations.Binarycompatibilitychartsareusefulteachingtoolsingeneraleducation,inthechemicalplantorlaboratory,andforareasandoperationswherecommonlyperformedtasksmightleadtochemicalmixturessuchasmightoccurduringco-shipmentincompartmentalizedcontainers,storageinacommonareaorcompositingwaste.Compatibilityinformationisessentialduringprocesshazardreviews(forexample,HAZOP).ThesechartsmayprovideguidancetoterminaloperatorsonDOTHM-183thatrequiresthatmaterialsonadjacentcompartmentsofmulticompartmenttanktrucksarecompatible.Theyprovidedocumentationthatthepotentialforinadvertentmixingasapotentialsourceofheatandgasevolutionfromchemicalreactionshasbeenconsideredinsizingreliefdevices.Compatibilitychartsserveaschecklistsforuseduringprocesshazardreviews,andthepreparationofthechartitselfoftenbringsattentiontopotentialhazardsthatwerepreviouslyunknown.Abinarychartonlyconsiderspairsofmaterialsandthereforedoesnotcoverallpossiblecombinationsofmaterialsinanoperation.Acommonthirdcomponent,forexample,acidicorbasiccatalysts,maybecoveredbyfootnotingthepotentialforcatalysisofareactionbetweenotherwisecompatiblematerials,buttheformofthechartdoesnotensurethis.Theremaybereactiveternarysystemsthatwillescapedetectioninabinarychart.TheAIChEorganizationCenterforChemicalProcessSafety(CCPS)hasrecommendedtheuseofthisstandardinoneoftheirrecentmonographs(1).Thisworkiscurrentlyavailableforfreedownloadfrom:http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/reactivechemicals/index.html1.1Abinarychemicalcompatibilitychartalsocalledinter-reactivitychart,documentsthehazardsassociatedwiththemixingofpairsofmaterials.Thisguideprovidesanaidforthepreparationthesecharts.Itreviewsanumberofissuesthatarecriticalinthepreparationofsuchcharts:accurateassessmentofchemicalcompatibility,suitableexperimentaltechniquesforgatheringcompatibilityinformation,incorporationofuser-friendliness,andprovisionforrevisions.1.2Theusesofchemicalcompatibilitychartsaresummarizedinthisstandard.1.3Thisguidealsoreviewsexistingpublicdomaincompatibilitycharts,thedifferencestherein,andtheiradvantagesanddisadvantages.
